Donating blood

My mother has been trying to convince me to donate blood for years, as she does it quite frequently. Now that I'm 18 and able to donate it, we, as a whole family decided to do it. It was a first time for my dad as well, so it was quite exciting. We went to a local blood donating centre to fill out forms and engage in a pre-interview. The nurses noticed that I was nervous, but were extremely kind and welcoming. The procedure went fine and afterwards we enjoyed the food they serve for donators.
This activity was such a big achievement for me as I have terrible fear of needles. Have to admit that I'm proud of myself for coming over my fear and helping others. By donating blood you can save up to 8 lives, great feeling.
